I really enjoy this place. Alissa always greets me with a smile and great conversation. The entire staff are very welcoming and make you feel at home. Can’t say enough about this place.

Been coming here for years. All the kava tenders are awesome especially Beck and Alissa. One of the newer tenders needs some training when it comes to noticing when customers approach the bar and greeting them within 10 minutes. Noticed she didn't treat her male customers this way. Thankfully the bar back took care of me. PS- Riley should get promoted.

Love the kava and the tea. My husband and I go all the time and staff is very friendly. Taylor is the best! Always polite, professional and hospitable. Everyone is great. I would absolutely recommend this bar.

Edit: in response to the owner’s reply: A temperature controlled climate inside the building would go a long way. It must be about 85 degrees inside at any given time.. I love this place, but unfortunately the climate in the bar is unbearable. I feel awful for the employees who deal with it first-hand daily.. I’ve seen other reviews about this same issue as well from some time ago, with responses insinuating this would be a temporary thing, and that it would be fixed. Well, over a month and a half later, there still seems to be no plan in action to remedy the issue. Putting two fans on the floor is not a real solution. I love Island Root, and I can’t say enough about the wonderful kava family that surrounds the business, but the building needs help. Thanks
